A landmark report titled “GENOCIDE AS COLONIAL ERASURE” was released by the United Nations Special Rapporteur. It detailed the widespread, systematic

abuse of the Palestinian people by the state of Israel.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • On 14 October 2023, Israel ordered 1.1 million Palestinians to move south from northern Gaza in 24 hours – one of the fastest mass displacements in history.

  • At least 90 per cent of Palestinians in Gaza have now been forcibly displaced.

  • Nearly 40 million tons of debris, including unexploded ordnance and human remains, contaminate the ecosystem.

  • Between March 2024 and October 2024, Israel has killed 10,037 Palestinians and injured 21,767, with more than 93 massacres, bringing the reported totals to nearly 42,000 and 96,000, respectively. This includes at least 13,000 children, including more than 700 babies that have been killed, many shot in the head and chest.

  • Continued bombardment of evacuees in purportedly designated “safe zones” has continued.

  • Systematic attacks on Gaza food sovereignty indicate an intent to destroy its population through starvation.

  • In August 2024, the Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that starving the entire Gaza population was “justified and moral”, even if 2 million people consequently died.

"ISRAEL’S APARTHEID AGAINST PALESTINIANS: CRUEL SYSTEM OF DOMINATION AND CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY."

Amnesty International carried out extensive research and analysis between July 2017 and November 2021 on Israeli legislation, regulations, military orders, government directives and official statements. It described its findings in a report.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • In 1948, before Israel was established, Palestinians comprised around 70% of the population of Palestine and owned about 90% of the privately owned land. Jews, many of whom had emigrated from Europe, comprised around 30% of the population and owned about 6.5% of the land.

  • Amnesty International has concluded that Israel has perpetrated the international wrong of apartheid.

  • Almost all of Israel’s civilian administration and military authorities, as well as governmental and quasi-governmental institutions, are involved in the enforcement of the system of apartheid against Palestinians.
